Never Let Me Go

Royal and Derngate Theatre 19-21 Guildhall Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 1DP

You were brought into this world for a purpose. And your futures — all of them — have been decided. Royal & Derngate, Rose Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, and Malvern Theatres present Never Let Me Go Kazuo Ishiguro’s international best-selling novel arrives on stage in this world premiere of Suzanne Heathcote’s gripping new adaptation. What if you discovered your whole reason for being was not about your life but about making someone else’s possible? Your dreams, your desires, your love for another, all of them irrelevant in a world that values only what you give, without question or condition, to someone you’ve never met and will never know. Memory and reality collide in this stunning new staging that challenges us to think about what it means to be human. What it means to have hope and heart — to love and to lose.

Lloyd Griffith: Baroque and Roll

Royal and Derngate Theatre 19-21 Guildhall Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 1DP

Fresh from supporting Jack Whitehall on his 2023 UK arena tour, comedian Lloyd Griffith is back with a brand new show ‘Baroque and Roll’. It’ll be funny and yes, there’ll be the odd song or two from that magnificent voice of his. As seen on Ted Lasso (Apple), Nolly (ITV), Soccer AM (RIP), 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Can you beat the bookies (BBC), Live at The Comedy Store (Comedy Central), House of Games (BBC).

The inspirational story of  Northampton’s legendary pioneering hero –  Walter Tull – is brought to the stage in a new musical drama by award winning playwright Dougie Blaxland and celebrated composer Chris Anthony. Commissioned by Show Racism The Red Card and produced in association with Live Wire Theatre, Our Little Hour explores how Walter Tull – grandson of a Barbadian slave – orphaned at eight years old rose to prominence against all odds. The first black footballer to play at the highest level of the domestic game in the UK he went on to achieve yet another historic breakthrough as the first man of his heritage to be commissioned as an Officer in the British Army. Tragically killed in action just a few weeks before the end of World War 1, Walter Tull’s pioneering achievements have earned him a distinguished place in British history and in the hearts of everyone who knows his story. Combining a power packed drama with hauntingly original music, Our Little Hour comes hot on the heels of huge critical acclaim for On The Ropes – Dougie Blaxland’s most recent musical drama – which enjoyed a sell out run at The Park Theatre London last year.
