Northampton Town and County Art Society are delighted to be able to return to Northampton Museum and Art Gallery.  Thankfully with the return to normality, the 105th Annual exhibition will be Open, so as well as Members and Associate Members exhibiting, this exhibition will also include a selection of Non-Members work, allowing visitors a chance to see the wide variety of styles and subjects that such a group show offers.

One Night of Elvis

Lee Memphis King, Europe’s most successful Elvis Presley tribute artist, recreates the essence of the King with consummate ease and an almost unbelievable combination of stunningly accurate vocals and incredible passion in every performance. Over the last 10 years as Lee has toured his ‘One Night of Elvis’ he has picked up numerous accolades and has headlined and sold out some of the most prestigious venues across the UK and beyond. In August 2016 he completed a sell out concert tour of Israel, performing to over 8000 fans. In this latest production, Lee Memphis King portrays Elvis Presley at his peak celebrating the iconic ‘Vegas Years’ from 1969 – 1977. Resplendent in the most authentic costumes from Elvis’s performance and an orchestra backing this incredible performer prepare to be taken back in time to see Elvis in the way it was. This brand new production is dedicated entirely to the ‘Vegas Years’ when Elvis would perform in Las Vegas and tour throughout the US and Canada – the definitive record of these performances are contained in the films ‘Elvis- That’s the Way It Is’, ‘Elvis On Tour’ and the ‘Aloha from Hawaii’ concert. Trainers: a global obsession – Northampton Museum and Art Gallery

The training shoe has been around for over 100 years but in the last 50 years it has developed into a multibillion dollar global industry. In this exhibition we take a closer look at the design, technology, cultural influences and environmental impact of the trainer and showcase our own trainer collection, the largest owned by a public institution.

This exhibition, for all ages, explores the processes artists go through to produce their work and the techniques they employ. Technique provides an opportunity to look beyond the artist and subject matter and gain a greater understanding into how artworks are created across a variety of media. On display will be a wide cross-section of works from our Fine Art collection including drawings, prints oil paintings, sculpture and watercolours as well as key pieces from our collections of Textile Art and Studio Pottery

Every Friday 12.30 - 2pm FREE Our regular knit and natter group is growing. To keep it accessible for a variety of crafters, we’ve changed the name and extended the time. If you’re looking for a way to unwind after a busy week or just want to make some new crafting friends, come along with your chosen craft. Bring your own craft and have a bite to eat in the new museum café. Drop in – no bookings required but please purchase a drink or something to eat from the café so the group can sit in the bright and spacious new café area.

Favourite CBeebies characters JoJo and Gran Gran are on board with a Gran Gran plan, and Andy has his submarine pod at the ready. Join the crew to search for endangered creatures, find out fascinating facts, and collect sounds and pictures for your very own musical ocean scrapbook. A magical multi-media event featuring CBeebies theme tunes, classical music favourites, live action film and animation and a few surprises along the way.
