Stephen K Amos – Oxymoron

Royal and Derngate Theatre 19-21 Guildhall Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 1DP

Oxymoron* Luverly! Stephen K Amos is back with a brand new show, after treading the boards of London’s West End in the smash hit musical My Fair Lady, playing the iconic role of Alfred P. Doolittle. What a mad couple of years it’s been! How did you get through it all? Stephen’s solution… find the funny. The opportunity in the crisis, the joy in the sadness, the wisdom of fools, after all comedy equals tragedy. Join him for an hour of solid jokes and guaranteed belly laughs. Fresh from a sell-out tour in Australia and the US and as seen on QI and Pilgrimage: The Road To Rome, The Project and Live At The Apollo. So what are you waiting for? He’s awfully good! *A serious comedian

PUNK: Rage & Revolution

Northampton Museum And Art Gallery 4-6 Guildhall Rd,, Northampton, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

Punk took the world by storm, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to inspire and provoke people today. The young people of Northamptonshire were as inspired by punk as the rest of the country - they formed bands, set up music and clothing stores and managed punk nights. This major exhibition follows the Punk: Rage & Revolution exhibition at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery and explores fashion, music, the local gig scene and much more.

I, Daniel Blake

Royal and Derngate Theatre 19-21 Guildhall Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 1DP

Dan is a carpenter.  A Geordie through and through.  Just on the mend after a heart attack. Katie has just arrived from London. Finally got a council house for her and the kids.  A fresh start. I, Daniel Blake is one of the most important stories of a generation.  A glimpse behind the headlines and the stark reality of what happens when the political system is stacked against you.  With 14.5 million* people living in poverty in the UK, this is not fiction.  It is reality. A touching and vital story of how people come together in the face of adversity and how sometimes creating a family to support you just isn’t enough.  The show is adapted for stage by Dave Johns who played Daniel Blake in the award winning 2016 film. *Joseph Rowntree Foundation 2022 Poverty Report.
