NC Jazz: The Amy Roberts/Richard Exall Quintet
Royal and Derngate Theatre 19-21 Guildhall Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 1DPSince it’s formation in 2013, the Roberts/Exall Quintet have had an amazing journey. They were awarded “Band of the Year 2015” by Rochdale Jazz Society and have performed at the UK’s top Jazz clubs and Festivals, as well has prestigious concerts abroad. The Quintet have recorded two albums….. “Why Not” and “Hodge-stic”. The current line-up features…. Amy Roberts – flute, clarinet & alto sax Richard Exall – clarinet, tenor & alto saxes, vocals, arranger. Ashley John Long – Bass Al Gur – piano Nick Millward – drums
Santa’s Grotto
Grosvenor Shopping Northampton Grosvenor Centre, Union Street, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 2EWNo Christmas is complete without a visit to Father Christmas, and the BID is delighted to be bringing Santa’s Grotto back to Grosvenor Shopping Northampton this festive season. Important Information Pre-booking is required. All money from this event will be donated to charity. There will be a £1 charge to secure the booking per family, using PayPal. 6 tickets per half hour will be sold to allow a provision of 5 minutes with Santa. The last family to arrive for their half hour session will have to wait 25 minutes. Families will be able to take their own photos with Santa. Each child will receive a gift.

The Snowman Live! with The GUS Band
Royal and Derngate Theatre 19-21 Guildhall Road, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN1 1DPThe Snowman, by iconic illustrator and cartoonist Raymond Briggs, has become an integral part of Christmas for children and adults alike since the picture book was first published in 1978, with the animated version first broadcast on Channel 4 in 1982. In keeping with the book, the film is wordless and free of dialogue with the exception of the iconic song Walking in the Air which will be performed by a local Northamptonshire boy singer. We are delighted to bring this special screening of the film with The GUS Band playing live alongside the film to bring the iconic score to life, offering an immersive experience for children and adults of all ages. The GUS Band is one of the world’s leading brass bands, who are also based in Northampton. This timeless classic is suitable for all ages, and the performance will also include a short concert of family favourite Christmas songs and music from The GUS Band.
