Art Exhibition-The Gallery Running for the month of September as part of the hugely successful Northants and Rutland Open Studios event, 78 Derngate is pleased to present Nine at 78 – an eclectic exhibition of work from nine prominent Northamptonshire artists encompassing work in an array of styles and mediums. From paint, mixed media and collage, to glass, jewellery, ceramics, woodwork and textiles; there is something for everyone to appreciate and all the work is for sale. Taking part are: Katy Dynes (painting and illustration), Nadege Honey (handcrafted jewellery), Sarah Luke (glass),Claire Mycock (painting and mixed media), Joy Norman (textiles and paper),Colin Proctor (painting), Mark Puryer (wood), Emma Saul (painting and ceramics)and Katrina Solano (painting). These artists and makers' creations will fill all our galleries and there will be pieces to view in the gardens, too! West Northamptonshire will welcome Britain’s biggest professional cycling event this September, as we host the penultimate stage of the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men. Taking place on Saturday 7 September, the fifth stage of the tournament will start from the University of Northampton and finish at the Guildhall on Northampton’s Derngate after 147 kilometres (91 miles) of racing through the area, including Daventry and nearly 30 villages. The route Along the way the race will pass through Daventry, followed by a loop south of the town through villages including Abthorpe, Wappenham, Helmdon, Culworth, Byfield and Hellidon, before looping around Northampton via Watford, West Haddon, Naseby, Kelmarsh and Brixworth for the approach to the finish via Sywell and Ecton. During the stage riders will tackle a pair of categorised King of the Mountains climbs at Newnham Hill and Bulls Hill, just south of Daventry, and an intermediate sprint at Holcot, at the eastern end of the Pitsford Water causeway.
