Northampton Museum and Art Gallery Saturday 2 March - Sunday 1 September A celebration of the 20th century paintings, prints and sculptures in our collection that all share an abstraction of form, from large oil on canvas paintings to angular metal sculptures. This exhibition is a presentation of this central stream of modern art production, investigating abstract art’s unique voice, freedom of expression and artistic origins.

The National Theatre Connections Festival is a celebration of young people, theatre and the importance of access to the arts. Each year the National Theatre commissions a collection of new plays for young people to perform, bringing together some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow. Royal & Derngate hosts the largest and most diverse of the regional festivals that take place across the country, and we are delighted to welcome hundreds of young people to Northampton again this April. Groups from across the region will perform a host of exciting new plays, including Age Is Revolting by Abi Zakarian, Shout by Alex Zegerman, Replica by Titus Halder, Windrush/Gen. by Mojisola Adebayo, Kiss, Marry, PushOffCliff by Josh Azouz, Sad Club by Luke Barnes with Music by Adam Pleeth, Orchestra by Charlie Josephine, The Periodicals by Siân Owen and Back In The Day by Yasmeen Khan. Royal and Derngate’s own Young Company: Acting Group will be taking part in the festival performing The Periodicals by Siân Owen on Mon 11 – Tue 12 March. Click here to book. Coming soon, an exhibition in The Temporary Exhibition Gallery at Northampton Museums and Art Gallery Northampton Museum and Art Gallery Saturday 16 March - Sunday 9 June 2024 Vivienne Westwood was seen as the Grand Dame of fashion design for over 50 years. Her work with partner Malcolm McLaren defined the look of punk in the 1970s and subsequent fashion collections shaped the fashion world of the late twentieth century. This exhibition showcases a small part of an extensive personal collection that features her iconic shoes and outfits from her career defining collections such as Seditionairies, favoured by the Sex Pistols and Pirate. The Vivienne Westwood brand was not involved in the curation or organisation of this exhibition.
