It’s not every day you come face-to-face with a triceratops and a T Rex but shoppers heading into Northampton town centre will get up close and personal with the giant beasts as part of a free family fun day. A collection of dinosaurs will appear throughout Market Square, Abington Street, and other parts of the town centre on Saturday, July 24, as Northampton will be transported back to the Jurassic era, with a host of activities lined up for young adventurers. Characters including Ritchie the Raptor, Zeus the T Rex and Tank the Triceratops will entertain the crowds on July 24, between 11am and 4pm. On the day, visit Grosvenor Shopping centre to see Noisy Norman the Roaring T Rex plus a Dinosaur Egg!

Watch out…Dinosaurs are about Join New Look Northampton for a Dinosaur Hunt. Simply grab a sheet from the front and tick off all the Dinosaurs you can see hidden around the shop. Anyone can join in the hunt between 11am-4pm, Saturday 24th July.

Make a dinosaur out of colourful, fruity-scented multi-purpose bar or make your own soapy-saurus! Stop by the LUSH store from 11am-3pm to make your own soapy-saurus out of our FUN! This is a free event, but it’s first come first served until stocks last, so come early to avoid disappointment!

Join a father and his teenage daughter as they travel back in time navigating from continent to continent, exploring an Earth teeming with dinosaurs in search for clues on the origins of flight. Racing against time, they paraglide through ancient skies with Quetzalcoatlus, flee from raptors and traverse deserts with Argentinosaurus. They walk through rain forests, climb ice cliffs, sail over primordial seas and parachute into a huge sinkhole in their search for the first flying birds. When time runs out they even experience first-hand the cataclysmic ‘final day’ of the dinosaurs.”’’ The Dino Dome will be situated on the Market Square and will have Virtual Reality headsets available. Historical tour of Northampton to run in conjunction with a litter pick to encourage more people to look after our town. The tour, which will take place from 9.30am to 11.30am on August 21, is only open for 20 people, however, if a success, the group will look to organise more in the future. Businesses are being encouraged to clean their windows, sweep the pavements, paint woodwork and carry out any tasks to tidy-up their doorways, taking before and after pictures to show the difference they have made. Businesses are also invited to join us, the street cleaning team and the Mayor for a morning of litter picking in the town centre. August 23 will form the focal point of a week of action across the town. Other days will see similar activities organised by Northampton Town Council, with each councillor taking the lead for their individual wards. It forms part of a series of projects to tidy up the town, encouraging all business owners to take pride in their premises and get Northampton looking its best. The Rectory Farm Litter Pick, organised by Cllr Keith Holland-Delamere, will take place on Wednesday 25th August, 10am to 12 noon, meeting on Olden Road near the shops/ community centre. This litter pick has been arranged as part of the Summer Clean Plans working with multiple partners and organisations including West Northamptonshire Council, Northampton Town BID, Mayor of Northampton, Veolia, Northants Litter Wombles, and Northamptonshire Community Foundation.

The Trinity community litter pick, organised by Cllr Jane Birch, will take place on Wednesday 25th August, 2:30pm to 3:30pm, meeting at Queens Park, on the corner of Balmoral/Edinburgh Road. Please enter the church hall via the Church car park in Balmoral Road and leave via the fire exit, to maintain social distancing in the building. Tea and cake will be served in the church hall after the event! Please note this litter pick has been arranged as part of the Summer Clean Plans working with multiple partners and organisations including West Northamptonshire Council, Northampton Town BID, Mayor of Northampton, Veolia, Northants Litter Wombles, and Northamptonshire Community Foundation.
