NFF’s Youth Disability Advisory Board presents a selection of shorts for schools (12A)

We're showing two films from the NFF 2025 shortlist - plus a selection of films chosen by our Youth Disability Advisory Board made by or starring people with disabilities provided by Oska Bright Film Festival, the world’s leading festival for films made by or featuring people with learning disabilities or autism. Sarah Leigh will take part in a Q&A after the screening of her film 'One For The Road'. All our venues are wheelchair accessible.

Contemporary Stitched Textiles The Bassett-Lowke Rooms Sat 8 Mar 2025 - Sun 25 May 2025 An exhibition of Contemporary Stitched Art Textiles We are delighted to be hosting this new exhibition of textiles and mixed media work which has been created by the Visualise textile group. Visualise was formed several years ago, by like-minded artists who enjoy creating diverse work with stitch as the common thread. The exhibition will also feature work by internationally known textile artist and Embroiderers Guild member Nigel Cheney who is the current mentor to Visualise. On display is a diverse array of abstract, realistic and figurative art using a wide variety of media: paper, fabric (new, distressed and recycled) and found objects which are hand and machine stitched, or felted to create art inspired by both the natural world and the built environment. The exhibition includes textile art inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and 78 Derngate itself, with framed and small items for sale. Combining a look round the iconic Charles Rennie Mackintosh House before visiting the exhibition, gardens and shop, followed by partaking of some drink or food in The Dining Room is the perfect way to spend a glorious few hours in Northampton...

This exhibition will look at how the industry has affected the lives of the people of Northamptonshire and beyond, not only through employment but providing hospitals, carnivals, days out and Christmas parties. It will explore the history of the biggest employers in Northamptonshire through personal stories and artefacts.

NFF 2025 short films: Celebrating Identity (12A)

A selection of short films from documentary to drama, from Northampton and across the country, about people discovering themselves, celebrating their talents and finding their tribe. As well as the films, there will be a chance to discuss the films afterwards. The certificate of this screening is 12A. Doors open at 2pm. Delapre's cafe will be open throughout for refreshments. For the Coffee + Cake ticket, you can swap the coffee for tea or various soft drinks. A variety of cakes will be available on the day. All our venues are wheelchair accessible.

Watch a selection of films, from drama to documentary, comedy and animation, meet some of the filmmakers and also the NFF team. Each ticket includes a glass of prosecco (or a soft drink if you prefer). The Orangery cafe (with limited menu) and bar will be open throughout. Seven months ago, Saba walked out of her GCSE mocks and didn’t come back. Her friends don’t understand why. Now, on prom night, Saba’s finally made contact, challenging her friends to track her down via a series of cryptic clues. But when the friends are finally reunited, Saba is different. The way she sees the world has changed. And what she’s asking of her friends… is it more than they can give? This new play written by Danusia Samal, directed by Anna Simpson, and performed by the Royal & Derngate Young Company, asks probing questions about the responsibility of the individual in a troubled globalised world, as well as growing up, growing apart, and how far should you go for what you think is right. The Young Company will also be performing Saba’s Swim as part of the National Theatre Connections Festival.
