Contemporary Stitched Textiles The Bassett-Lowke Rooms Sat 8 Mar 2025 - Sun 25 May 2025 An exhibition of Contemporary Stitched Art Textiles We are delighted to be hosting this new exhibition of textiles and mixed media work which has been created by the Visualise textile group. Visualise was formed several years ago, by like-minded artists who enjoy creating diverse work with stitch as the common thread. The exhibition will also feature work by internationally known textile artist and Embroiderers Guild member Nigel Cheney who is the current mentor to Visualise. On display is a diverse array of abstract, realistic and figurative art using a wide variety of media: paper, fabric (new, distressed and recycled) and found objects which are hand and machine stitched, or felted to create art inspired by both the natural world and the built environment. The exhibition includes textile art inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and 78 Derngate itself, with framed and small items for sale. Combining a look round the iconic Charles Rennie Mackintosh House before visiting the exhibition, gardens and shop, followed by partaking of some drink or food in The Dining Room is the perfect way to spend a glorious few hours in Northampton...

Clark Tracey is a jazz master. An inventive jazz drummer he’s also a proven group leader, writer and arranger, having appeared over many years with the world’s jazz greats. With this stellar band he has revived the famous jazz suites written by his late father, the great pianist & composer Stan Tracey, bringing masterpieces such as Under Milkwood successfully to admiring younger audiences. “For me Tracey is a world-class musician whose mature and distinctive artistry – his own “ snap-crackle” – is right up there with the likes of Philly Joe Jones and Roy Haynes.” Jazz Journal, 2024 Alan Barnes’ range and brilliance have made him a “first call” for studio and live work since his precocious arrival on the scene more than thirty years ago.
