Saturday 12 November 10.30am - 12.30pm £12 including all materials Learn a historic quilting technique using simple stitches which can be used as a standalone technique, or in combination with other embroidery stitches, to add texture to your traditional or contemporary creations. In this workshop Sharn will briefly outline the history of corded quilting, including showing a 250-year-old example from the museum’s collection. She will then help participants produce a small sample in a ‘sew along’ session that can be used to make a Christmas card. The workshop will conclude with ideas of how to combine corded quilting with other sewing techniques and which designs work best. This workshop is suitable for both people with limited stitch experience and more experienced embroiderers looking to add to their technique library. Booking essential.

Art history lecture series Friday 4 November – Friday 2 December 10.15am - 12.15pm Our latest series of art history lectures takes its inspiration from our current exhibition strand exploring artists’ techniques and processes, which will be showing in Gallery 2 at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery until February 2023. If you have ever wondered what separates slipware from stoneware or how to tell an engraving from an etching, this lecture series is for you.
