Mark Holmes from Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA) will be speaking about the large-scale excavations on Angel Street and St John’s Street in 2014, uncovering a site which had been continuously occupied since the early 1100s. highlights include the discovery of a workshop where bone and antler chess pieces were carved in the 12th century, and extensive evidence for later medieval malting and brewing. There will be an opportunity to view some of the original finds from their site. this talk is in partnership with MOLA and celebrates the Festival of Archaeology.
