Northampton Business Improvement District (BID) launched its new £2,000 Festive Prize Draw in November – announcing that a total of 20 shoppers would win £100 each to spend in Northampton town centre.
The first two draws took place this month, with more than 900 people entering to date and the first 10 winners choosing to spend their vouchers in a mixture of independent and big brand stores.
There will be two more draws in January, with 10 more winners set to be randomly selected next month.
Mark Mullen, Operations Manager of Northampton town centre BID, said: “This festive draw has been designed to both promote and support our town centre businesses and to give many families an extra special Christmas and New Year.
“As a BID our remit is to encourage people to shop local, shop safely and rediscover Northampton. Our town centre is home to an impressive array of boutiques and businesses, cafes and restaurants, bars and venues, and it’s great to see our prize draw winners choosing to spend their vouchers here in Northampton.”
So far prize draw winners have chosen to spend their winnings in independent stores including The Entertainer, Mooch, Bias, Vintage Guru, 78 Derngate and St Giles Cheese, and national brands that include New Look, Home Bargains, Next, TK Maxx, Boots, H.Samuel and Tesco.
The final two prize draw dates will take place on 4th and 11th January. The prize draw is open to Northamptonshire residents only and all entrants must be over 16 years old.
Mark added: “Some of our winners are happy to redeem their vouchers now and pop into the town centre to shop. Others, who feel less comfortable shopping during Covid despite our business’ commitment to promoting and providing safe shopping, are choosing to hold on to their vouchers until next year. Either way we are delighted to be providing a little bit of joy for shoppers this Christmas and New Year.”
People who have entered one or both of the first two prize draws are encouraged to re-enter for January’s draws – names are not carried over into the next draw once winners have been selected.
