October 2019: Peter Rabbit™ and Paddington™ will be entertaining families this Christmas thanks to Northampton town centre BID.
The children’s favourites will be meeting and greeting families on Sunday, December 1 and will be based upstairs in the Grosvenor Centre inside the Northampton Borough Council Igloo Cinema, which is next to Primark.
The duo will meet and great families at separate intervals at the following times:
- Peter Rabbit™: 11am, 12.20pm, 1.40pm & 3pm
- Paddington™: 11.40am, 1pm, 2.20pm & 3.30pm
The meet & greets will take place on the same day as the Northampton Borough Council Frost Fair in the Market Square, which will see stalls selling everything from ceramics and jewellery to textiles, cards and edible goodies.
BID Operations Manager Mark Mullen said: “Christmas is a key trading time for our businesses so everything we can do to entice families and friends into the town centre during this festive time is a bonus.
“Peter Rabbit and Paddington are popular characters so we know they will be sure to draw even more visitors and shoppers into the town centre.”
Councillor Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety, added:
“Thanks to our collaboration with Northampton Town Centre BID, the meet and greet with Peter Rabbit and Paddington is a welcomed enhancement to the Igloo Cinema experience on Sunday 1 December.”
Once shoppers have had a photo opportunity with the characters’ they invited to pop over to the Market Square for seasonal shopping at the council’s annual Frost Fair, which they are running in partnership with Vintage Guru. There will be a creative workshop at 11am and Christmas Parade at 1pm.

Saturday, November 23: Special guests Peppa Pig and George will be meeting families in the Grosvenor Centre ahead of Northampton’s Christmas lights switch-on. This is free of charge and the duo will be based upstairs in The Grosvenor Centre and appearing at separate intervals between 11.15am to 4.45pm.
Peppa Pig will then make a guest appearance at 5pm on the Market Square stage for the
official lights switch-on.
Golden Ticket competition: Northampton BID will be holding its annual Golden Ticket Prize Draw and giving four shoppers the chance to win £500 of vouchers each, to spend in Northampton town centre.
